2 JUNE 14 MONDAY

Pre-camp [3A] Fastest Ball Challenge
~ What sounds interesting about this project?
Fastest ball challenge itself sounds pretty interesting and fun to start of with. It sounds like it has to do with speed and i preferably think that anything that has to do with speed is fun.
~ What do you think you can learn from this project?
I can learn on the variables needed to ensure to have a fair test and experiment on the ball. We might also learn more about the sensors that can help us analyse the results of the experiment.
~ Any immediate questions regarding the project?
Nopes.

Pre-camp [3B] Extraction of caffeine from Beverages
~ What sounds interesting about this project?
As i have never extracted raw materials out of things before, this is a very exciting experience for me to learn more about the extraction of caffeine materials from tea.
~ What do you think you can learn from this project?
I can learn how to extract materials and see what a particular substance or thing is made up from.
~ Any immediate questions regarding the project?
Nopes.

3 JUNE 14 TUESDAY

First Day^^ 3A ~ What did you do today? (Your day’s activities)
I explored and learnt more about the inclination/acceleration of the ball when its being let go at the top the the ramp and how that can actually affect the ball to increase or decrease the speed when coming down the ramp.
The first 3/4 of the day was exploring the relationship between how the angle of the ramp affects the speed of the ball when its moving down the ramp. I also learnt how the surface area of the particular object can actually affect the speed from the blocks and detergent experiment.
~ What did you learn today? (Learning points)
I learnt that theres a relationship between the angle of the ramp and the speed of the ball. If your angle is too big, it might slow the ball down. If its too small, it might also affect the ball. I also learnt that the larger the surface area the more resistance there is, making it slower to land.
~ How do you feel about today’s activities?
This can be applied to our daily lives when analysing different samples and experimenting on any particular objects' speed.

3 JUNE 14 TUESDAY

Second Day^^ 3B
~ What did you do today? (Your day’s activities)
explored and learnt more about the equipments when its being used in the extraction of caffeine experiment. We also learnt where we could find caffeine in our everyday lives, example, red bull, coke, coffee etc.
We used a wide range of scientific equipments in the science lab to help with the procedures of extracting the caffeine out of the two types of tea that we have, on pre-made for us, the other packed by ourselves.
~ What did you learn today? (Learning points)
I learnt about the different type of filtration and experiments used. I also learnt how caffeine can be both harmful and good to us. We should limit how much caffeine we take in everyday. Too much caffeine may cause us to get nauseous and sick.
~ How do you feel about today’s activities?
This can be applied to our daily lives when we are needed to experiment on different substances. Learning all the different equipments helps us to increase our knowledge and how we can use them to find out and extract other materials.
